The red soil and coastal zone of Devgad regiod gives the Alphonso its unique flavour,taste,colour,shape and sweetness. Alphonso is the only variety in the world which is grown in rocks,returns extremely good value than grown in soil. The Devgad variety can be identified by its saffron-yellow colour and thin skin.It has no fibre content,and unlike other mangoes,it can be peeled like a banana without pulling out the kernel.

The variety is slightly smaller in size as compared to the Alphonso mango variety but offers a unique taste.
