When turned open, the disc of the gate is completely removed allowing materials to pass. even though this gives the valve good shut-off property and bidirectional, they cannot be quickly open or close and are responsive to shaking when open. The stem nut design allows for the removal of the hand-wheel while keeping the Stem and Gate in a fixed position.
