Spiral pipes are manufactured continuously from hot rolled steel coils & hence length of pipes can be maintained as per the customer’s requirement from 6 to 13 meters or more. However, fabricated pipes are 2 to 2.5 meters in length. Thus resulting into higher number of joints per kilometer of pipeline which results in higher lead time for laying the pipeline. Higher laying cost due to increased number of joints. Higher probability of leakages at joints. Higher maintenance cost.

Our manufacturing facility for helical submerged arc welded (HSAW) pipes employing electrical fusion welding is a state of the art facility to produce quality pipes. The spiral welded pipe mill is byard spiral mill sdn. Bhd. make, along with the other equipments provide the company with the superior technology and competent to deal with the best in the industry. The pipe plant has a capacity to produce 70,000 MT of pipe per annum and can produce spirally welded pipes in the range of 18 inches (457 mm) to 100 inches (2540 mm) with maximum wall thickness of 1 inch (25.4 mm) & pipe length of 6 meters to 13 meters as per client’s requirement confirming to various national as well as international quality standards. The uniqueness of our plant is that the whole unit is mobile & can be moved to the project site. The QC accepted bare pipes are washed in solution of caustic soda tank followed by pickling by hydrochloric acid of suitable concentration to remove oxides on pipe surface & is then dipped in fluxing tank. Pipes are then preheated & dipped in molten zinc bath. Pipes are then pulled out from the bath & wiped externally & internally for uniform & smooth zinc coating. Pipes are then cooled in quenching tank followed by passivation. Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Pipes are manufactured from Hot Rolled Coils / Slits. All the incoming coils are verified based on the test certificate received from steel mill for their chemistry and mechanical properties. ERW pipe is cold-formed into a cylindrical shape, not hot-formed. Instead of flame, electric current is used for heating edges of the strip for weld fusion. This welding process does not need any filler metal. Instead, the welding pressure causes some of the metal to be squeezed from the joint, forming a bead of metal on inside and outside of the tube. This bead or welding flash is trimmed or completely removed during the process. During production, online visual inspection is also carried out for surface defects, diameter accuracy, ovality and weld bead shape. Required sample rings as per specification are cut to carry out mechanical testing of weld and body e.g. flattening test, bend test etc. All pipes are then processed in finishing and testing area for pipe end preparation i.e. Facing/Bevelling followed by hydrostatic pressure testing as per specification. Individual pipe is then visually inspected for the parameters specified in the specification before offering to the customer's inspection, if any.
