Beam of invisible pulsed modulated infra - red light is produced by emitter. This beam is sensed by receiver at another end (in through beam version) or reflected by object and received by receiver placed near emitter (in diffuse version). When this beam is interrupted by object, the receiver signal gets changed and signal is produced.

IntroductionThe Optical Proximity Switches are a reliable solution for automation where other Proximity Switches have limitations. These are Infra-red type sensors incorporating advance and reliable technology. These switches have a distinct advantage of higher sensing distance over Inductive and capacitive type switches. These can work more reliably in a noisy electro-magnatic radiation environment. As an infra-red wavelength is used, it is immune to visible light interference.Applications These switches are very useful for counting and position sensing application in Pharma, food, Paper, Plastic Automobile industry. They also work effectively in level sensing applications for solids, grains, sand, ice and other non-metallic bulk material. Some typical applications are; Component positioning sensing in Electronic Industry Counting of bottles, Jars, Containers etc. Glass sheet position sensing For security 7 safety in machine Tools, presses etc. Colour sensing applications Principal Of OperationThese Switches incorporates an infra-red transmitter and receiver device hose in single enclosure or separate enclosure. The precision pulsed transmitter beam is interrupted or reflected by the object. The advanced electronic circuit generates an effective output signal when the object is sensed.Diffused Scan: Diffused scan type switches have both transmitter and receiver is same enclosure. The closely focused beam is reflected back by the object. Through-Beam: Through-Beam type switches have separate transmitter and receiver. The object is sensed when the beam is interrupted.Retro Reflective: Retro reflective switches use a special reflectorto reflect back the beam. When an object interrupt the beam, an output signal is generated. These model have greater sensing distance compare to diffuse scan type. The receiver does not considerthe reflection from the object.Technical Terms Standard ObjectThe sensing distance specified for diffused scan switch is considered with a white object having minimum 90% reflectivity.ConstrictionThese switches are offered in tubular metallic, Acrylic and Plastic enclosure. Standard model are available with integrated two meter long cable. Switches with built in (Male) connector.
