Wet riser systems are a building regulations requirement in occupied buildings over 60 metres tall and form part of a buildings fire suppression system. The wet riser systems are permanently charged with water from a header tank above the wet riser system and will be automatically discharged in an event of an outbreak of fire. The main difference between wet and dry risers is that dry risers systems can only be installed up to 60 metres and are not pressurised with water like wet risers.
