Hard Chrome Plating is an electrolytic process utilizing a chromic acid based electrolyte. The part is made the cathode and, with the passage of a DC current via lead anodes, chromium metal builds on the component surface. A wide variety of parts can be coated; it requires only the proper fixturing, a large enough bath, sufficient lifting capacity, and adequate power sources. Hard Chrome Plating offers many attractive properties to the engineer. Electroless Nickel platting is a chemical platting process that autocatalyticaly deposit nickel alloyed with phosphorus 8-12 % by weight. Electroless nickel deposits areproduced by chemical reduction of nickel onto catalytic metallic substrates. Since the process requires no electrical current (as used in electrolytic deposition of chromium), the result is a very uniform coating that has a dense essentially amorphous structure as plated. Blind holes, threads, channels, recesses or internal areas receive the same amount of plate as sharp corners, edges or flat surfaces. Therefore total ‘as platted' thickness can often be reduced and close tolerances within 2 microns are maintained. At though electroless nickel deposites can be machined machining to size is frequently uminated.Deposition of nickel phosphorus coating occure by the following chemical reaction
