The operation of conventional filter presses have always been messy and labor intensive. With ever increasing labor cost there arose a demand for atomizing several filter press operations. N.M. Patel Engg. was first to develop & offer automatic filter presses with following features. Auto Shaking mechanism The filter press with precisely engineered auto shaking mechanism will shake the group of plates at one time maintaining the predetermined gap between the two plates via chain or rope. The auto shaking mechanism is run by electric or hydro-motor shaking the plates with suitable revolutions adjusted by means of PLC, which co-relates the filtration sequence without operator’s attention. AUTO PLATE SHIFTER FILTER PRESSThis highly advanced arrangement, provides fully automated closing and opening. When the filter is ready for cake dumping, the double acting cylinder retracts, pulling with it the movable head or follower. As soon as the followers is fully retracted, the shuttle shifter takes over, picking up the first plate from the head end of the unit, moving it across the opening or cleaning space to expose the cake and stacking it against the follower. The shifter then automatically reverses, returns for the next plate, transports and stacks it against the first plate and so on with time cycle set in PLC. Until all of the plates have been successively shifted and chambers dumped. An over-ride is provided so that the shifter can be stopped at any time and its motion resumed when the operator desired. Drip Trays in Bombay Door ConstructionDrip Trays are kept below the plates or Plate & Frame. It serves the purpose of collecting Drip (Filtrate) during the filtration or water during washing which falls due to capillary action from the Filter cloth.Arranged underneath the filter plate set.Fabricated of steel with plastic coating, stainless steel or entirely of synthetic material. The Membrane filter plates are the technological development of the recessed plates. These elements come with variable chamber depth which is adjusted depending upon the filterability and quality of slurries to be treated. Mixed pack membranes are the most common & cost effective configuration where the membrane and recessed plates are set alternatively so every second plate is provided with flexible and replaceable filter face of rubber on both the side. This configuration allows variable chamber depth through membrane squeezing. These plates are mainly used to increase the cake dryness (reduce moisture content), shorten filtration, effective washing and discharge time and they are achieve by inflating the flexible membrane diaphragm filter face, contrary to conventional plates. For inflation of membrane generally water or air pressure is used by pumping in the squeezing chamber. The replaceable membrane are either from Rubber or EP family which has great advantage of elasticity gives extreme deflection of membrane so the final cake receive the consistent high dryness. Due to Squeezing process the Membrane Plates offers following advantages.– Reduction in Moisture content in the final filter cake– Reduction in Filtration, Washing as well discharge time.– Reduction of washing liquid consumption due to more homogeneous cake structure.– Increased Uniformity in dewatering of the filter cake.– Improvement in cake release from the filter press.– Saving in filtration process cost and time.
