Details : Common Name : Guduchi Other Name : Giloy Botanical Name : Tinospora Cordifolia   In  Ayurvedic medicine,  T. cordifolia  is known as “Guduchi” and is considered to be one of the most divine herbs. It is a large, deciduous extensively spreading climbing shrub with several elongated twining branches. Leaves simple, alternate, exstipulate, long petioles up to 15  cm long, roundish, pulvinate, both at the base and apex with the basal one longer and twisted partially and half way around.Guduchi is highly valued in Ayurveda for its detoxifying, rejuvenating, immune-boosting, and anti-rheumatic properties. “Giloy (Tinospora Cordifolia) is an Ayurvedic herb that has been used and advocated in Indian medicine for ages”, says Delhi-based Nutritionist Anshul Jaibharat. In Sanskrit, Giloy is known as ‘Amrita’, which literally translates to ‘the root of immortality’, because of its abundant medicinal properties. “The stem of Giloy is of maximum utility, but the root can also be used. Its benefits and uses have even been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration)”, adds Nutritionist Anshul Jaibharat.
