Nuberg Engineering is reckoned for manufacturing the entire plant and machinery for the production of single, double, triple-base propellants. The company provides all the related equipment required for the production of combustible cases and accessories. To add a little more on propellant, Single Base propellants are constructed by bringing together the NC with the additives and solvents to obtain the gelatinization. After the completion of the kneading operation the mixture is collected and transferred to the press for extrusion process, thereafter for cutting, then solvent removal operations, soaking, drying and blending. After production, the powder can be subject to further surface treatments depending on the type of propellant. Hereafter a thorough mixing is carried out for the preparation of commercial lots. The Double base manufacturing is very similar to Single Base, the presence of Nitroglycerine being the only difference. The common process starts from NG/NC paste but in some processes also from NC and Gelatine. Double Base propellants is kneaded or gelatinized and dehydrated by rolling. Triple base propellants manufacturing process is as the above two only to be followed by extrusion, cutting, drying and blending.

The Primary gas cooler has three compartments. There is a shell and tube heat exchanger where the service water is exchanged with the CO gas in the two crown zones and with chilling cold water in the bottom zone. IN all zones the tubes are inclined at 15 degree celcius, horizontal. The purpose of this is to provide easy drainage to any naphthalene condensate. However, the main purpose of PGC is to cool the gas from 90°c to 30°c.

Naphthalene is available in the form of vapour which condenses directly to a solid, chemically neutral aromatic material. The raw coke has a naphthalene concentration of 50 – 55°C thereby leaving no naphthalene when the gas is quenched to 80 – 84°C. Naphthalene mixes very easily in tar. As a general principle it is necessary to reduce the naphthalene in gas concentration corresponding to a dew point temperature appreciably below any which may be experienced by the walls of the gas distribution pipework.

The plant of Calcium Carbonate is built in the following steps: The first step is to Calcination / Burning of limestone in a vertical shaft lime kiln for quick lime and carbon dioxide gas production. Hydration of quick lime to yield hydrated lime. Carbon dioxide gas is washed and cooled. Reaction of hydrated lime with CO2 gas to give desired grade of precipitated calcium carbonate slurry. Primarily the lime stone is screened and washed to separate undesized material after which it is fed to the vertical shaft lime kiln for preheating, calcinations & cooling operation. In this process quick lime & CO2 gas are obtained and is automatically controlled. The quick lime is further hydrated with process water in batch reactor and screened to eliminate impurity. Thereafter the line slurry is processed so that it reaches the designed process condition which is required in reactors for carbonation. The co2 gas produced is cooled and washed in a washer which is vertical in shape and then is charges to the batch reactor. Conditions are regulated in reactors to acquire different grade of precipitated calcium carbonate. This is further washed filtered and dried for getting a fine powder.

After ammonia recovery the coke oven gas comes to raw benzol recovery. The recovery is taking place due to contact of the coke oven gas with wash oil in scrubbers, at the same time, benzol plant provides cooling of coke oven gas. The result coke gas could be transfered to customers, for instance, for coke oven battery heating. Wash oil enriched with raw benzol is heated to the temperature of 140°C and being purified from raw benzol and cooled, it is returned to srubbers for continuous use.

In benzoyl scrubber crude benzoyl gas is scrubbed with wash oil in the benzoyl recovery section. Benzoyl crude oil goes to benzoyl recovery section where benzoyl is removed and the wash oil after treatment is sent to the scrubbers. Crude Benzoyl thus recovered goes to benzoyl rectification plant. BTX, solvents, still bottom residue. Benzoyl after washing and neutralization with caustic soda is send to benzoyl column for fractionating into different fraction.
