INTRODUCTION TO THE THERMOCOUPLE COMPENSATING CABLES The compensating cables are suitable for interconnections between the thermocouple and display, control or recording instruments. Voltage is generated when there is a temperature change at the junction of the two conductors. The voltage is transmitted to 'a Calibrated Meter which monitors the temperature changes. The conductors used for these cables are required to have similar thermoelectric (emf) properties as that of the thermocouple used for sensing the temperature. The cables are manufactured as per IS : 8784, ANSI-MC 96.1, B.S., ENI, DIN and customer's specifications. Thermocouple compensating cables with other insulating materials, braided screened pairs or braided overall screen, galvanised steel wire braid armouring, other constructions or finishes (e.g. for high temperature operation) can be manufactured to customer's specification, requirements. Insulation Materials : PVC/HR PVC/FRLS PVC/LDPE/TEFLON/FG/ ASBESTOS/ PTFE/GLASSMICA/CERAMIC COATED F /G YARN. Conductor Twisting : 2 such cores twisted to form a pair with identification by No. printing/ on each cores or each protection by BOPP tape. Individually Shielding : Screening by 100% coverage with 40% overlap by Aluminium Mylar tape or ATC, SPC, NPC, BCW wire braiding shielding with 80% to 98% coverage. Laying up/Cabled for Multipairs : All such twisted pairs with or without shielding wi~h required No. of lay cabled together to make symmetrical round shape. Overall shielding : Screening by aluminium Mylar tape/braided shielded same as above. . Rip Cord : In case of IiR PVC/FRLS PVC/SLICONE insulated then one Nylon thread to be provided for easy to strip.
