...moreveneers wood
Veneer refers to thin slices of wood, usually thinner than 3 mm (1/8 inch), that typically are glued onto core panels to produce flat panels such as doors, tops and panels for cabinets, parquet floors and parts of furniture. Plywood consists of three or more layers of veneer, each glued with its grain at right angles to adjacent layers for strength. Veneer is also a type of manufactured board. Veneer is obtained either by "peeling" the trunk of a tree or by slicing large rectangular blocks of wood known as flitches. The appearance of the grain and figure in wood comes from slicing through the growth rings of a tree and depends upon the angle at which the wood is sliced.

...moreBlock Board
Blockboard is made up of a core of softwood strips. These strips may be up to about 25mm wide. The strips are placed edge to edge and sandwiched between veneers of hardwood. The sandwich is then glued under high pressure. Blockboard may be used to make shelves, doors, panelling, cabinets, wardrobes, furniture etc. Each timber used in block board is kiln-dried sawn timber which is sandwiched between core ply. It has very high vertical load bearing strength and hence suitable for vertical applications, such as doors, cupboards, panels and partition walls. These are chemically treated to resist termites and borers. It also has good resistance to warping. Block boards are available in 16mm, 19mm, 20mm, and 25mm sizes.
