Remdesivir is used to treat people with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) who are in a hospital. Remdesivir is approved for use in adults and children at least 12 years old who weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kilograms). The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized emergency use of remdesivir in children younger than 12 years old who weigh at least 8 pounds (3.5 kg) and are hospitalized with COVID-19.
