Automatic Mobile Flux Feeder
The automatic flux feeder is designed specially for the treatment of bulk quantities of molten aluminum. It can be applied to any bulk melting situation and is designed for application in the primary and secondary field of the aluminum industry. The flux injection process is highly efficient means of degassing and cleaning molten aluminum, which provides a number of benefits to the user.Operation of the unit is automatic. Prior to flux injection the machine is moved to the furnace requiring treatment. It is connected using a flexible hose to the nitrogen supply pipe work and is plugged into a nearby 220VAC socket outlet. The hopper is filled with the approved flux via the charging filter and the refractory coated steel lance is connected to the outlet hose. The setting on the various dials are checked and the equipment is then ready for operation. When the injection cycle is started nitrogen gas passes through the unit and out of the lance which is held inside the furnace door. The lance is preheated above the metal surface. After 30 seconds flux starts to feed into the mixing chamber and the flux/injection mixture is ejected from the lance. The lance is then immersed in the metal and is moved slowly round the bottom of the furnace. The mixture continues to flow for a preset time and then an alarm sounds and the flux stops. Nitrogen gas is kept flowing to clear the lance, during its removal from the furnace and then the treatment is stopped. If only one flux injector is available the hopper is refilled and the treatment repeated through the other furnace door.
