Chaukhat Bed & breakfast Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Traditional indian homes used to have a distinctive doorway, called the chaukhat through which visitors would enter and exit the dwelling. The chaukhat or threshold occupied a significant place in the structure of the house as it marked the separation of the home from the external world. Therefore not only in india, but all over the world, the term 'crossing the threshold' came to signify the start of new experiences and a new life. We have named our bed & breakfast 'chaukhat' because we hope that your stay with us will be your entry to the lovely andaman islands, which is home to a unique eco system comprising virgin tropical forests, mangrove creeks and rich underwater life.
