The contact pressure is generated by means of special-purpose pneumatic cylinders, which allow almost hysteresis-free contact andor compensating motion. By means of the two opposed cylinders, the contact pressure can be programmed within a range of 0 to 1000 n at will. Should the application concerned call for particularly sensitive contact pressure, the servomotor-driven contact pressure module can be employed. The pressure roller is made of a special type of alloy which is extremely resistant to wear and heat. In addition, when compared to conventional materials, there is considerably less adhesion of weld spatter.
