An endless belt is dipped in coolant tank such that the oil on the top collected. Coolant flows slowly over the belt leaving the oil on the pelt. The belt is rotating to take out oil. In metal working industry, various water-based emulsions are used as coolant to enhance productivity. This emulsion is a mixture of water and different types of cutting oils in a specific ratio While machining, oil used for lubricating various parts of the machine tool, get mixed with the coolant. This leads to change in the properties of coolant and thereby decreasing its efficiency. The lubricating oil mixed in the coolant keeps floating on the coolant surface and adheres to the coolant tank surface. This generates various types of fungi, which leads to an irritating smell around the coolant tank.To avoid all these problems, Endless belt type oil skimmers are manufactured by Span Filter mist India Pvt. Ltd. These skimmers consists of a geared motor that continuously rotates a Belt made up of special material which allows the oil particles to stick it. These oil particles are then scrapped by a scrapper and collected in a separate oil collecting bin.  

In any coolant application scum is generated. If this is not removed it affects the coolant life. A belt skimmer is a very simple product to remove the floating oil. A belt skimmer is mounted on tank tops. The unit consists of two (2) pulleys. Care is taken that the bottom pulley is below fluid surface level. The top pulley is connected to a geared drive. An endless belt of polyurethane material rotates on the pulleys. Bottom pulley has a self-tensioning arrangement to compensate expansion of belt over time. Fluid flows slowly over the belt leaving the floating oil on the surface of the belt.   The belt scrapes through a pair of nylon scarpers near the top pulley. The scraped fluid is collected a tank. The separator tank is specially design with adjustable baffles. The six primary types of oil skimmers are belt, disk, drum or barrel style, mop, large tube or mini tube, and floating suction oil skimmers. Belt oil skimmers utilize a belt of stainless steel. This belt is lowered into the liquid that needs to be cleaned. The belt then passes through special wiper blades, which remove the oil from both sides of the liquid as it passes through. Disc oil skimmers use a disk that is rotated through the liquid. The oil is wiped off the liquid and placed into a special collection container within the skimmer. Disk oil skimmers are not a good choice for shallow liquids or for places where the liquid level fluctuates, because they are most effective when the entire disk is immersed.
