Most of the times the actual temperature, the measured and controlled temperatures are different. This happens because of the locations of thermocouples and furnace design. Incorrect calibration of thermocouples and controllers is another issue. For process standardization, accuracy and repeatability of measurement is required. These depend on the thermocouple characteristics, compensating cables, measuring instrument and its calibration and finally the actual method of measurement.Uniformity of temperature can be checked by furnace mapping by inserting many thermocouples inside the furnace and collecting data. The data is logged over a period of time and different temperatures.The mapping is carried out as per CQI standard (SAT and TUS) or any other applicable standards.
