This roof top safety system has been recognised by Factory Directorates under the respective Factories Rules. It also conforms to the proposed IS specifications. The basic principle of this system is to distribute the load of the workers on the system and transferring it to the purlin structure, avoiding concentrated load on the fragile A.C.Sheets. After occurrence of any roof top accidents, “an occupier” faces a chain of unwarranted events, like downtime, production losses, compensations, legal costs, loss of morale of other roof workers & litigations. The unfortunate worker, who inadvertently steps on a weakened sheet, due to it’s deceptive look, may get his compensation from the contractor who employs him or through his insurance cover. But, a “Prime Employer”, can not avoid rigorous penalties & proceedings for lack of adherence of Safety Provisions as per demands of prevalent Factories Rules. Being PIONEER in manufacturer of Rooftop “KatWalk” and Rooftop “KatNet” systems since 1980, naturally the problem of accidents through such translucent sheets was entrusted to us by many leaders in Indian Industry. We came out with the solution which is approved by them. The “KatNet” system is modified and fixing is devised in such a way that the sheets can be differentiated at a distance. These nets negligibly reduce light passage. Thus stepping on these sheets can be avoided. Even if unconsciously, unintentionally some one steps on it the sheet may get damaged, but, the worker shall remain SAFE. This solution, to avoid accidents, is economical than any other equipment. “KatNet” salient features: nets and the System Patent is applied for. Made from braided polymer ropes and are having knotted construction. Knotting is done mechanically and not manually. Manufactured to have huge strength to bear the weight of a person. With recent introduction of this product, many industries are coming forward to choose this system and do away with the basic problem. These “KatNet” nets are required to be tailor-made since the sheet profiles in metal sheets are not standardised.

In many industries, workers are exposed to a high level of noise. Normal tolerance of human body is about 80 to 85 dBs. Researches have made us quite aware that the workers who are exposed to such noise abuse, for a long time are subject to irritation, fatigue, loss of concentration, anxiety, disorientation, rise in blood pressure & heart beats & ultimately total DEAFNESS resulting in loss of their efficiency and directly affects company’s productivity. Before we introduced “LoBel” earplugs, market had various brands of Ear Plugs with some or the other problem. “Sponge type Ear Plugs” - which maximum industries were using, owing to its absorbing and porous structure, threaten contamination & infection of tender ear skin.

So far, in Indian Industry, the roof workers were left to the mercy of God if they worked without any system or else they used rooftop safety systems while working on Asbestos Cement (A.C.) sheet roofs. These sheets are fragile and visually the weak sheets cannot be differentiated from the good ones. Stepping directly on these sheets has always been a call of a fatal accident. The height from which the worker falls, the object on which he falls prior to hitting the ground are some of the various factors which makes these accidents more dangerous and highly fatal. This accounts for thousands of rooftop accidents every year; most of these are fatal ones. Use of rooftop safety system alone, limits the speed of work and this was one of the main causes of neglecting the system while actually working on rooftop. The system would be observed, laid in a corner, unused, provided by the employer – the industry awarding the contract of rooftop jobs. With a definite increased element of safety awareness in Indian Industry on introduction of ratings like ISO etc., the industry would insist on tying of a net at the truss level under the roof even when the working on floor below is in progress. These nets are BULKY and quite CUMBERSOME. Tying them at the truss level is a time consuming, laborious & nightmarish job. The net has to be strong enough because of the momentum, to hold the falling workers from a height. THE FACTOR OF GRAVITY COMES INTO PLAY. Thus, this safer working procedure further limits the speed of the work on rooftop and thus the productivity or the output of work reduces to 10 – 15%. This creates reluctance and then deliberate negligence sets in both, on the part of the contractor and on the part of the employer who employs him as well. This gave rise to invent some system to SPEED UP THE WORK WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON SAFETY while working on rooftops.
