The Box Compression Test measures the compressive strength of packages such as boxes, drums, and cans. It usually provides a plot of deformation vs compressive force. It is commonly used to evaluate shipping containers made of corrugated fiberboard as well as wooden boxes and crates. Industrial and consumer packages other than boxes can also be subjected to compression testing: drum, pail, bottle, tub, etc. Package components are also evaluated for compression resistance. Method of conducting the test as described in several published standard test methods is to compress a box at a constant rate of 12 inch (12.5 mm) per minute between two rigid platens. The test can be conducted on empty or filled boxes, with or without a box closure. Conditioning to standard temperature and humidity is important.

This machine is used to test the bursting strength of the Filter Paper / Element Test Paper (Filter Element) is put on a Holding Station and clamped from the top. From the bottom of the Holding Station, a Diaphragm is pressurized which presses against the Test Paper / Filter Element. The Diaphragm is pressurized by Glycerin filled in a container which is pushed by a moving Piston actuated mechanically. The load at which the paper fails(bursts) against the expanding Diaphragm is noted through Double Needle Manual Dial gauge.

Box Compression Tester – HMI is the advanced model to assess the compressive strength of the corrugated cartons. When used in real working conditions, cartons are often stacked over each other. To avoid the product failure, the boxes are prior tested for stacking load bearing capacity. The machine is designed with 2 strong columns structure for synchronized movement of the plates.
