Safety or PRV -Pressure Release Valves are used at outlet of blower as a safety measure. When outlet passage of air is blocked or subjected to heavy load then system pressure increases creating back pressure on lobes. Which results in failure of lobes or tripping of Motor. PRV release the pressure to the atmosphere at certain set point to safeguard the compressor/blower system. When they used at suction/inlet they termed as vacuum safety valve.
