Disc Check Valves from Forbes Marshall are spring loaded, non-return valves which allow flow only in one direction. When fitted at the outlet of traps discharging into closed systems, they prevent the back-flow of discharged condensate into the system. New installations using tube settlers can be designed smaller because of increased flow capability. Flow of existing water treatment plants can be increased through the addition of tube settlers. Tube settlers increase allowable flow capacity by expanding settling capacity and increasing the solids removal rate in settling tanks.

A basic swing check valve consists of a valve body, a bonnet, and a disk that is connected to a hinge. The disk swings away from the valve-seat to allow flow in the forward direction, and returns to valve-seat when upstream flow is stopped, to prevent backflow.
