Fluid with chips drops in cavity outside a mesh drum. It moves in the drum trough fine mesh, by gravity, leaving the chips on the mesh. A scraper conveyer, wrapping the mesh drum & scraping the outside cavity, carries the chips to a bin. On the way the fluid drips back to the tank. The conveyer movement also rotates the mesh drum. Clean fluid inside the drum is siphoned out to a clean fluid tank. From this it is pumped to the machine. Part of the pressurized fluid from pump is used to backwash the mesh drum. Application : Aluminum chip handling, washing fluid filtration, etc. This can be used on an individual machine or as a centralized plant. Features : • Seal is away from sedimented chips. No possibilities of seal getting damaged by chips. • Seal is of lesser diameter than conventional filter drum. It is possible to machine this seal & maintain correct dimensions. Seal is flushed with clean fluid. This means the seal is more reliable to arrest fine particles. • It is possible to pull the mesh-drum out of the system for maintenance

Self Cleaning filter holds multiple elements ( based on flow capacity ) housed in a pressure vessel. The dirty fluid enters from the bottom into the inner side of these elements. The dirt starts accumulating on the inner surface. This accumulated dirt increases the differential pressure, which is sensed by a pressure switch. On reaching a set differential pressure an dedicated panel start the backwash cycle. A rotating arm, placed under the elements, connects the element opening to atmospheric pressure. As the complete housing is operating at a higher pressure, the fluid starts a reverse flow from outside to inside for that particular housing. This flow dislodges the accumulated dirt on the inner surface and that particular element is backwashed. After a set time delay the backwash arm rotates to the next element. This countinues until all elements are backwashed. Various elements of filtration level upto 150 micron are available. Number of elements in the housing are decided on the process, flow and dirt load. Scraper Conveyer is a simplest device to handle course dirt in bulk. It can be designed in several forms: inserted in a machine tunnel or placed at the bottom of dirty fluid holding tank. It also can be used in combination with a verity of filtration / separation devices. Wipers are attached to a moving chain placed in trough (tank) holding dirty cutting fluid. Sedimented course dirt is moved along with the wipers in a bin placed at one end of trough. The sketch shows two basic types of conveyers. Type a is normally used in machine tools, in combination with a magnetic separator (optional) to handle finer magnetic dirt. Dirty fluid with “filter aid powder” is fed under pressure at the filter inlet so that the filter aid powder forms a uniform layer on the filter discs in the filter shell. During this operation the filter outlet fluid is diverted back to dirty fluid tank. This operation is called “pre-coating”. It is performed every-time after the filter is cleaned & put to use again. After pre-coating the filter is put to use by letting the filter outlet to clean fluid tank. Generally separate pump handles the clean fluid to the machine. To increase the time before the filter is serviced, a small amount of filter aid powder is fed periodically at the dirty pump suction point. This operation is called “body feeding”. The filter shows excellent filtration clarity to generate very high finish on the components. After the filter is choked, (usually at pressure drop of 1.5 bar.) the filter housing is drained, purged with compressed air & then opened. The discs are dismantled & cleaned manually using compressed air. Applications : Super-finishing, finish grinding, honing etc. Commonly used for individual machines.

The dirty fluid is pushed in the filter housing under pressure. Filter elements of correct filtration rating are placed in the housing depending on the flow & other requirements. The ends of the filter elements are sealed so that the fluid is made to pass through the filter medium only, to leave the dirt on the filter medium. Generally the inlet & outlet are in one line. However the position of the inlet could be altered as per the requirement. An Endless belt of magnetic candles is dipped in dirty coolant tank such that the dirty coolant enters in the core. Coolant flows slowly over the magnetic candles leaving the ferrous dirt on the candles. The belt is indexed to pull out dirt-laden candles & rotate them at top to remove the dirt.
