WHAT IS PERIPHERAL ANGIOGRAPHY? A Peripheral Angiography is a test that your doctor performs to find out about the narrowed or blocked areas in one or more of the arteries that supply blood to your legs. WHY DO YOU NEED TO PERFORM PERIPHERAL ANGIOGRAPHY? There are several scenarios where you might have to perform this test such as: Irregular blood flow in the arteries leading to legs. In order to determine if you need to undergo surgery to open the blocked arteries. HOW IS PERIPHERAL ANGIOGRAPHY PERFORMED ? Before undergoing the test, your doctor will guide you with your diet and will also examine or ask you if you under any kind of medication or have any type of allergies or illness. Right before the test, the nurse will insert an intravenous line (IV) into a vein in your arm so you can get medicine and fluids as you lay awake on the bed The nurse will then clean and shave the area where the test needs to be performed. After this, local anaesthesia will be given to you so that you don't feel any pain while performing the test. Right after that, when you are ready for it, the doctor ill puncture the needle through your skin and into your artery, and insert a long, thin tube called a catheter into the artery. Once a catheter is inserted, the doctor then injects a small amount of dye into the catheter which clears the vision of your blocked arteries on the screen. This substance might make you feel hot for a few seconds. After the test, you will be asked to take rest and give your diagnosed leg, complete rest. If there is any kind of bleeding, the nurse will take care of it and after a few hours, she will guide you on what to do when you head back home.

Nerve conduction velocity or ncv is a medical test that assesses nerve damage and dysfunction. It's a procedure that measures how quickly electrical signals move through your peripheral nerves . why is an ncv performed ? it helps the doctor to differentiate between an injury to the nerve fibre and an injury to the myelin sheath, the protective covering surrounding the nerve. It will also help your doctor to identify the difference between a nerve disorder and a condition where a nerve injury has affected the muscles. In cases where a person is suffering from muscular and neuromuscular disorders such as guillain-barre syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, charcot-marie-tooth (cmt) disease, herniated disk disease, chronic inflammatory polyneuropathy and neuropathy, sciatic nerve problems and peripheral nerve injury. The ncv test is also useful in case of a pinched nerve.

WHAT IS AN FRAX ? In simple words, Frax is a fracture risk calculator that was developed by the Wolrd Health Organization in 2008. It is a patient’s 10-year probability of hip fracture and major osteoporotic fracture. Before this, the doctors could only estimate the fracture risk of 5 years FIM This tool helps to check the patient's disability level and also helps to detect the change in patient status in response to rehabilitation or medical intervention. All the technicians use FIM to assess and grade the functional status of people based on the level of assistance they require. Tasks evaluated using FIM are bowel and bladder control, transfers, locomotion, communication, social cognition and six other self-care activities. GDP Many of them start calculating the GDP or the prediction of children's height since the birth of their child. But, how can you scientifically check the bone growth and height of your child? The most accurate method for GDP or prediction of children's height is by using the child's 'bone age', which is determined by an X-ray. In addition to this, there are home methods such as 'Two years times two', 'Genetic potential height predictor' and 'Follow the curve'. While these methods are not 100% accurate but a fun method to predict your child's height.

What is brain / cerebral angiography ? brain / cerebral angiography is a test that examines the blood vessels within your brain using a small tube known as a catheter why is a brain / cerebral angiography performed ? brain / cerebral angiography is performed when your doctor wants to detect or confirm any type of abnormalities within your brain's blood vessels. These abnormalities can be an aneurysm, atherosclerosis, arteriovenous malformation, vasculitis, a brain tumour, blood clot, tear in the artery wall or a stroke. Other reasons to perform the test are: to examine the arteries of the head and neck, right before surgery. To help the doctor get additional information on abnormalities seen on mri or ct of the head. To prepare you for the surgical removal of a tumour. how is a brain / cerebral angiography performed ? before the test, a mild sedative will be given to you so that you experience less pain during the test. After attaching the devices to monitor your heart rate and blood pressure, your head will be held in place using a strap, tape or a foam head holder so you cannot move it during the procedure. The area to be examined will be numbed using anaesthesia and then using x-ray-guidance, a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel through a tiny hole which is made by a needle and directed to the area to be examined. Once this is done, a dye is inserted into the area. After it covers the entire area, several sets of x-rays will be taken. In the end, the catheter is removed and pressure is applied to that area to stop the bleeding

WHAT IS AN BONE ANALYSIS ? Bone quality is defined as the sum of the structural and material properties of the trabecular bone. The structural properties of bone refer to the trabecular microstructure. Trabecular or cancellous bone is made up of many interconnected trabeculae which may be composed of narrow rods like trabeculae or the flatter plate-like trabeculae. The more of the thicker plate-like trabeculae present in the structure as compared to the thinner, rod-like trabeculae, the better the quality and strength of the bone. Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measured by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), has been used for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and thereby Bone Strength. WHAT IS B-SCOPE? The specific part of body mass analysis required for Orthopedics, Nuclear medicine, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, Neurology, Plastic surgery. The term Body Composition is used to illustrate the different components that, when taken together, make up a person`s body weight. For analysis of body composition, it is often suitable to think of the body as made of two components: fat and non-fat. The non-fat portion is called "fat-free mass" or "lean body mass".

WHAT IS ARFI? There are many different types of ultrasounds elastography. One of them is ARFI (Acoustic radiation force impulse imaging). It creates a qualitative 2-D map of tissue stiffness using an ultrasound. The process is done by creating a push inside the tissue using the acoustic radiation force from a focused ultrasound beam. The stiffness (hardness or softness)of the tissue is defined by the amount the tissue along the axis of the beam is pushed down. Softer tissue is more easily pushed than stiffer tissue. The ARFI elastography displays a qualitative stiffness value along the axis of the pushing beam. A tissue map is created by pushing the tissue in many different places. WHAT IS ELASTOGRAPHY? Elastography is one of the clinical techniques that maps the elastic properties and stiffness of soft tissue. It is a medical image modality that gives diagnostic information about the stiffness of the organ's tissue. Elastography is especially used to diagnose the diseases in the liver. The stiffness within the liver is usually indicative of fibrosis or steatosis, which indicates about the diseases within it. Elastography comes as an advantage in this condition because when fibrosis is diffuse, a biopsy can easily miss sampling the diseased tissue, which results in a false negative misdiagnosis.
