Vortex Flow Sensor for Water The VF-2000 flow sensor body and shedder bar (vortex generator) are molded as one component. Sensor body is made of PPS (Polypylene Sulphide) and is designed to eliminate deposits. Principle of Vortex meter is based on the Karman vortex street. When fluid flows through a bluff body, vortices are alternately formed on both sides with opposite directions of rotation. These vortices each generate small amount of pressure. The pressure fluctuations are recorded by the sensor and converted to electrical pulses. The vortices develop very regularly within the permitted limits of the meter.
