Aquaclore (Sodium Hypochlorite Solution USP) is used as a Water Disinfectants and also used as a general purpose disinfectant. Chlorine is capable of killing bacteria, and some fungi, yeasts, algae, viruses and protozoa when used in sufficient concentration. Since they have relatively low residual toxicity, chlorine compounds are useful for the disinfection of relatively clean impervious surfaces such as baby’s feeding bottles, baths washbasins, trolleys and food and dairy equipment. Sodium Hypochlorite is completely effective at pH 7 and 9. Sodium Hypochlorite is a potent micro bactericide and a good digestant of sputam and other exudates. It is readily available, easy to dilute for use, and inexpensive. It may be applied to glass, porcelain, inert plastic, rubber, concrete and enamel ware. Because of its low cost it may be used for floors, tabletop, counters sinks, wash bowls, toilets, and shower floors. In the presence of water, these compounds produce hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ion and it is generally considered that the lethal action organisms is due to chlorination of cell protein or enzyme systems by nonionised hypochlorous acid. Usage 1.Drinking Water: The chlorination practices for sanitizing drinking water to make it safe and palatable for human consumption. Water Disinfection Chemicals such as elemental chlorine or Sodium Hypochlorite has been used to treat drinking water with or without subsequent filtration. Continuous chlorination of drinking water eliminates water borne pathogens such as those responsible for cholera, dysentery and typhoid. Recommended dose 0.4 ppm (1 Ltr of Hypochlorite per 125000 litres of water) with dwell time of 20-30 minutes. Drinking Water Disinfectants. Disinfection in Other Areas -For Food processing 5-10 ppm (1.2 Ltr. per 10000 Ltr. of water) with dwell time of 20 minutes is recommended. -Pipelines, outlets, Pumps and meters may be treated with 150-250 ppm (3-5 Ltr per 1000 Ltr of water) but it is usually necessary to use a descaling agent first in areas of hard water. -For general purpose cleaning such as floor, Utensils, glassware, cans, bottles, toilets and sanitary ware a dilution of 100 ppm is recommended (1 Ltr per 500 Ltrs of wash water). -The recommended dilution for disinfection of potable water is as follows: 14 ml per Ltr. Swimming Pool -What does treatment of swimming pool water entail? Bathing Pools of whatever size, whether used for recreation or for Hydrotherapy, need to be efficiently treated with a suitable disinfectant. This is not only necessary to give protection against cross-infection between bathers, but also to keep the pool aesthetically acceptable for use. -1.What are the consequences of non-treatment? Failure to control the growth of bacteria and algae will result in a pool being rendered unusable because of the development of discoloration turbidity or disagreeable odour. Uncontrolled microbial growth can damage grouting between the tiles lining the pool and may contribute to unsightly discoloration or corrosion of metal fitting. -1.How does one go about it? The principles governing the application of disinfectants to swimming pools of all sizes and even to SPA pools (jacuzz), are substantially the same, as is the range of agents from which to choose a suitable disinfectant. Many different agents have been proposed for the disinfection of swimming pools chlorine remain dominant, having the advantage that they not only kill microorganisms, including viruses, but also oxidize organic materials deriving from bodily secretions of bathers. Sodium Hypochlorite is the most widely used since it is readily prepared at working dilution. It is cheaper that the calcium salt. Sodium Hypochlorite is still the simplest, most effective and the cheapest disinfectant currently available. Its use and limitations are well understood as a result of many years of accumulated experience. The difficult that may be encountered in its use, and the method of resolving them, are widely known. Consequently, we are regarded as one of the overriding Drinking Water Disinfectants Manufacturers in India. Sodium Hypochlorite Solution Usp Active Ingredients Contains Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCL) (Available Chlorine 3.81 – 5.72% W/W) Purified Water I.P : Q.S. Excipients : Q.S. In choosing a disinfecting system for a pool much will depend on the pool size, the nature and the weight of the bathing load, the first cost of equipment and the installation and the continuing cost of running and maintenance. Whatever the agent, or combination of agent, finally chose, success depends substantially on ensuring that active disinfectant is present in the pool continuously inadequate, concentration and pH of the pool is carefully maintained to be optimal. If pH is too low there is a danger of evoking skin or eye reaction among bathers. If pH is too high the efficiency of disinfectant will be impaired. Chlorine levels and pH should be monitored regularly with systems for their correction when necessary. Sodium Hypochlorite disinfectant is applicable to impervious surfaces, where there is likely or known contamination with mycobacterium bearing exudate to where odour is not a problem. For the disinfection of potentially contaminated water a concentration of 0.5 to 1 p.m. for atleast 30 minutes is recommended. The unpleasant taste of residual chlorine may be removed by adding a little citric acid or Sodium thiosulphate. For regular use in swimming pools, Sodium Hypochlorite may be added daily to maintain a residual ‘available chlorine’ concentration of 0.25 to 1ppm. Kitchen, Food & Drug Industry In today’s world where substantial movement of people takes place between countries besides within the country, hygienic food and pyrogen-free water become the main concern of such people. Thus the establishments, which cater to the needs in this area, like hotels of repute and flight kitchens do attach a high degree of importance to this aspect. Here again cheapest and the most effective means of achieving a high degree of hygienic standards can be with the application of Sodium Hypochlorite solution . In these application the quantity of Sodium Hypochlorite used is so low. (appx. 4 part per million parts of water used) that the cost sodium hypochlorite becomes insignificant. Aarshol-D Antiseptic Solution : (Available Iodine 1.6% W/V) Active Ingredients Contains Iodine I.P. : 3.0% W/V Purified Water I.P. : Q.S. Excipients : Q.S.
