Briquetting of residues takes place with the application of pressure, heat and binding agent on the loose materials to produce the Biomass Briquettes. Biomass Briquettes are a bio-fuel alternative to Lignite-coal and Charcoal. Biomass Briquettes are made from agricultural waste and other organic materials, and are used in thermal applications. The bio-fuel is relatively clean burning when compared with the other fossil fuels used today. Biomass Briquettes improve the volumetric calorific value and on average save 30-40% fuel cost. The Biomass Briquettes are also known as White Coal or Bio Coal that is extensively used in various industrial applications for heating boilers. Energy is the significant factor in economic growth of a country. With the conventional sources exhausting rapidly, there has been a surge of the use of Bio energy. Biomass briquettes are a promising bio fuel in the developing world. Due to lack of manufacturing and awareness it is still in the beginning stage in India.
