A Pressure Vessel is a closed container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure different from the ambient pressure. Some examples of pressure vessels are; industrial compressed air receivers, domestic hot water storage tanks, diving cylinder, recompression chamber, distillation towers, autoclaves, etc. Many other vessels used in oil refineries and petrochemical plants, and storage vessels for liquefied gases such as ammonia, chlorine, propane, butane and LPG are also categorized as pressure vessels.
