Steel Grit Steel Grit is a general-purpose manufactured abrasive used to remove thick coatings, heavy rust, and mill scale. It's fully angular shape cleans by aggressively cutting away at the surface leaving a uniform surface profile. Steel Grit is most commonly used in abrasive blasting rooms and mobile steel grit recycling systems and is frequently used for bridge, wind tower, and ship and railcar manufacturing and maintenance. STEEL GRIT complies to SAE specification J1993 and J444 as well as IS 4606 of 1983. Chemical Composition -- Carbon: 0.80 - 1.20 % -- Silicon: > 0.40 % -- Manganese: 0.35 - 1.20 % -- Phosphorus: < 0.050% -- Sulphur: < 0.050% Density -- Not less than 7.4 g/cc Hardness SAE Standard= - GH--> 60 HRc - GL - 50 - 60 HRc - GP -40 - 51 HRc IS Standard - GH - 700-800 HV - GL - 550-715 HV - GP -400 -500 HV - Custom hardness available on request General Appearance Steel Grit shall be as nearly angular Micro Structure The micro structure of steel grit shall be uniform martensite, tempered to a degree consistent with the hardness range with fine well distributed carbides if any.

Imported shots and grits conform to SAE J444, SAE J827, SAE J1993, ISO 11124-3, DIN 8201-2 and DIN 8201-3.We are the authorized importer and distributors of SINTO make steel shots and grits in India. We stock all sizes and grades of Steel Shots and Steel Grits. Usually, hardness in steel shots is in the range of 40-50 HRC, however higher hardness steel shots are also available on order. In case of Steel Grits, GH (65 HRC) and GP (40-50 HRC) grades are ready in stock. Other hardness such as GL (50-55 HRC) is available on order.
