Pearl Millet is one of the oldest cultivated crops since pre-historic times and ranks as the sixth most important grain in the world. It is known as Bajra in Hindi, The seeds or the grains are small, round, and golden yellow. It is usually used for hay, pasture, seed crops, and food. It always grows rapidly and is perfectly adapted for growing in harsh arid climates with drought-prone regions. Today pearl millet is grown on over 260,000 km of land worldwide. It accounts for about 50% of the total world production of millets. The niacin in these millets helps to reduce cholesterol and magnesium helps to lower blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks.
