It has a steel probe connected with the flat permanently marked polyethylene tape, having markings. The probe can easily be inserted in a gap of 2 centimeters. The wire is winded on a well balanced reel/spool, made of PVC having a handle to fasten the wire. The probe is lowered into the stream or well or bore well, as the tip of the probe touches the surface of the water; an in-built electronic circuit indicates contact with water by sounding a beep. Depth is read from the attached cable having graduations at every m/cm/mm.

The water level sounder shall consists of a cable reel of not less than 30 meters, 40 meters, 60 meters, 90 meters , 150 meter and 200 Meter Long and shall comprise of two insulated wire bared at the contact and which passesthrough a weighed probe of any suitable material. The water level indicator unit shall have the complete cable reel carrying case, battery operated indicator unit, a spool with slip rings and bushes connecting the free ends of-the insulated wire to the indicator. The reading shall be taken to the accuracy of 5 mm by measuring tape.
