Coir fibre, is a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconut. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. There are two types of coirs. One is brown and other is white. Coir obtained from fresh green Coconut is termed as White Fiber, which is finer than the Brown Fiber. The Brown Fiber is the outcome of seasoned fully matured Coconuts which lose their green color in the process. The brown coirs are used in upholstery padding, sacking and horticulture. White coir, harvested from unripe coconuts, is used for making finer brushes, string, rope and fishing nets.
