P.M.C. Textiles Ammapet, Salem, Tamil Nadu

PMC Textiles is a closely held family venture. The managing partner shri. P.M.Chandraian, has been pursuing the activity for the past 4 decades. He started as a small weaver, way back in 1978, with around 150 handlooms, doing conversion work from other fabric manufacturers. He switched to power looms in 1989 in a small way (10 Looms) and started selling to major traders in the area.
As the demand picked up, due to quality product from his looms, he started sourcing the material from other small weavers in and around Salem. Now, they have rights over operations of nearly 1200 looms, belonging to them. His three sons who are the other partners assist him in looking after production, purchase, marketing and finance.
PMC established a Spinning Division during the year 2000 with 1760 spindlage for manufacture of 45’s, 60’s, 76’s and 80’s P/V. blend yarn mainly for its own consumption. They slowly increased to 7200 spindalge.
The unit’s products command a good market especially in Kerala & Tamilnadu. The products are also exported to Dubai and Singapore.
