This machine is used to test the Fatigue strength of materials and to draw S-N Diagram by research institutes, Laboratories, material manufacturers and various industries. This is a rotating beam type machine in which load is applied in reversed bending fashion. The standard 8 mm dia specimen is held in special holders at its ends and loaded such that it experiences a uniform bending moment. The specimen is rotated at 4200 rpm by a motor. A complete cycle of reversed stresses in all fibers of the specimen is produced during each revolution. The bending moment is applied with a lever system and can be easily changed by moving weight over the lever. Total number of revolutions at which the specimen fails is recorded by a Digital Counter. An interlocking system puts off the motor at specimen failure, Machine meets requirements of IS 5075-1959.

End Quench Test Apparatus
This apparatus is useful for determining the hardenability of steels by End Quench Test. The test consists of heating a standard size specimen to a given temperature for a specific period of time, followed by a water quenching at one end under specified conditions and measuring the hardness at various points from quenched end along the length of piece. After heating the test specimen is kept on the specimen holder where it is automatically centerd with respect to water jet. The quick action valve starts impinging the water jet on the specimen end instantly. The well defined water jet is achieved by suitably choosing one of the nazzles provided and its corresponding water head. The elaborate arrangement of pump, tank, pipe etc enables to obtain desired correct water head for the particular nozzle. The nozzles are of quick change type and can be replaced instantly. Different set of nozzles, specimen holders, water head adjusting pipes are available to sult the different test specimen. The electrical controls for pump motor are supplied and the entire apparatus is totally enclosed.

The middle cross head is mounted on screws through main nuts. the middle cross head can be moved up or down through chain transmission and geared motor to adjust the initial tensilel compression clearance. On the piston, rests an assembly of upper, lower cross head and two columns. The individually lapped cylinder piston assembly ensures smooth axial force with minimum friction. Control Panel : Hydraulic circuit - it consists of hydraulic power pack which has a directly driven radial plunger pump which gives a continuous non pulsating flow of oil pressure up to 250 bar. a pressure compensated needle type flow control valve is provided to control the oil flow to cylinder there by achieving a desired piston speed. Infinitely variable speeds an be obtained with help of valves. Optionally this can be controlled from electronic control system. Loading Rate / Straining Rate Control : This is superfine controlling system which controls loading rate I straining rate as per commands from electronic machine control system. With UP / DOWN Keys on electronic control system loading ratel straining rate is adjusted. Fine UTM Software can send loading rate / straining rate to electronic control system. Load Measurement System : The oil pressure in the main cylinder is also transferred to an electronic pressure transducer which goes proportionate signal to computer electronic unit. both the motors for hydraulic operation and cross head motion are controlled by buttons on electronic control system and they have interlocks to prevent simultaneous working of motors. The electrical panel is housed in control panel. Displacement measurement is carried out by means of a rack and pinion on rotary encoder. Encoder signal is fed to electronic control system to get displacement. Operation : Tension test is conducted by gripping the test specimen in the upper and middle cross head. Compression, Bending, Transverse, Shear and Hardness tests are conducted between the middle and lower cross head by using appropriate fixtures. The rapid adjustment of middle cross head facilities easy fixing of tensile I Compression specimens of different lengths. Hydraulic controls are through hand operated valves, ergonomically placed for ease of control. Optionally valves can be controlled from electronic control system. Adequate safeties for over load and over travel are incorporated and emergency switch is provided. Accuracy & Calibration : Every machine is calibrated in accordance with procedure laid down in BS - 1610 - 1964 IS 1828 - 1991. 'FMI' Computerised Universal Testing Machines comply with grade A of BS 161()"1964 and Grade 1.0 of IS 1828 - 1991.
