MICROTECH apparatus enables the students to study the interesting phenomenon of heat pipe & to compare its performance with other pipes. The apparatus consists of a heat pipe made up of stainless steel, evacuated and partially filled with distilled water, a copper pipe and stainless steel pipe of same sizes. The pipes are heated at one end and water tank is provided at the other end of the pipe to take out the heat. Thermocouples are provided along the length of pipes so that nearly isothermal operation of heat pipe as compared to other conductors can be demonstrated. Rapid rise of water temperature in the tank around heat pipe demonstrates super conductivity of heat pipe as compared to copper pipe as good conductor of heat and to stainless steel pipe as same material of construction.Heat Pipe - Stainless steel pipe size 25 mm. dia. 450 mm. long, with both side closed, evacuated and filled with distilled water along with fine stainless steel mesh inside the wall.

A magnifying glass & a lamp is provided to visualize natural convection and pool boiling also.

The apparatus is designed to study the cam profiles and performance of cam and follower system. The apparatus consists of a cam mounted shaft supported by ball bearings upon which three different type of cam be mounted. The push rod for follower is supported vertically which can adapt three different types of followers cams and followers can be changed easily. A variable speed motor rotates the cam. A dial gauge provided permits plotting of follower displacement with respect to cam position. By operating the system at different speed, jump speed can be found and also the effect of weight and spring-force on jump speed can be studied.
