TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS : Vacuum Impregnation Plants and Pressure Impregnation Plants is designed for varnish impregnation to be carried out in following steps and will be generally as per the schematic diagram attached. Pre-heating the jobs in either Impregnation Chamber or in Oven if you have a less time available.Evacuation of Impregnation Chamber (after putting the jobs) to make the voids in the jobs clear and drying of jobs for specific time & required temperature / vacuum. Induction of impregnant (Varnish) in the Impregnation Chamber from impregnant Tank to submerge the jobs in it. Pressurize the Impregnation Chamber with dry air or nitrogen to fill the voids with Impregnant. Return the varnish to Impregnant Tank. Cure the jobs either in Impregnation Chamber or in Oven for specific time if time available is less. The plant will be generally as per the schematic diagram attached herewith and will mainly consist of following major components: IMPREGNANT STORAGE TANK : Material of Construction: M.S. plates, bars, structurals etc Varnish Tank Capacity: 50 - 80% of Impregnation chamber. Will be provided with: Level Indicator, Motorised Stirrer, TIC to indicate and control the varnish temperature, Return Line Filter to prevent entry of impurities carried away from impregnation chamber to storage tank and suitable drain. Silica Gel Breather will also be provided to prevent absorption of atmospheric moisture. VACUUM SYSTEM : Type: Rotary Oil sealed Vacuum Pump or Roots – Rotary combination. Capacity (free air displacement): 50 LPM to 1600 Mᵌ/hr. Ultimate Vacuum with G. B. Closed - 0.005 torr to 0.0001 torr. Make: Indowoosung, Everest, Doftel or reputed Make Working Vacuum – 0.1 / 1 / 10 / 50 torr Condenser: Water-cooled. In today’s competitive world the electrical insulation materials and the processes are viewed with tremendous cost and quality consciousness. Varnishing of electrical machine winding forms a major part of the total cost of the electrical insulating materials. With the increasing costs of energy and solvents for use in varnishing, it has become a need of the hour to look into the change in the conventional impregnation methods such as Dip and bake varnishing or the Vacuum impregnation. On this background Trickle impregnation technique was evolved to improve the varnishing quality coupled with reduced cost. This technique is now well accepted and used for impregnating stators / fields and armatures / rotors in all the advanced countries. TRICKLE IMPREGNATION TECHNIQUE : The resin applied on the winding is quickly sucked through the slots. Assisted by the capillary action it pushes out the trapped air from the small voids and gaps in the winding and penetrates evenly in all the voids. The essential point for successful application of the trickle impregnating resin is the correct adjustment and the control of the winding temperature. DESIGN OF TRICKLE IMREGNATION PLANT The design of a trickle Impregnation Plant plays a vital role in ensuring the uniform quality of a trickle impregnation. Any trickle impregnation plant should have the following essential features. Automated Cycle, independent of operator. Arrangement for quick mounting and for making the connections of resistance heating. Precise temperature control of the winding. Accurately metered resin quantity required for the component. Trickle Varnish Impregnating Machine is suitable for pre-heating, trickling and post heating of stators. The machine is simple and compact in design. It is easy for operation and maintenance. It is ideally suitable for batch type production of stators. The machine is suitable for carrying out following automatic cycle. 1. Load stators on spindles, connect winding wires, close the front door and start cycle with push button.2. Spindles start rotating and get pre-heated to predetermined temperature.3. Temperature of stator is sensed by non Contact-Us TIC.4. Spindle holding plate is tilted up and varnish pipes are tilted down to adjust the place of trickling.5. Varnish pump starts and pre determined varnish is trickled on stators / rotors and pump stops. Trickle Temperature is maintained with the non Contact-Us TIC6. Spindle holding plate is tilted down and varnish pipes are tilted up and post heating starts.7. After completing the post heating spindles, stop.8. Open the door & remove wire connections and Un-load the ready stators. Trickle varnishing Machine consists of following major components : 1. Rotation System : Spindles for holding job fixtures are mounted on swiveling L-plate. Spindles are mounted on pillow blocks and provided with slip rings for passing current through winding during preheating and curing. Electric connection pins are provided on the faceplates for quick terminal connections. Suitable job holding arrangement is provided to hold & locate the stators. Spindles are rotated by geared motor, chain, sprockets mounted on L-plate. 2. Job tilting and Varnish tubes Positioning System : L-plate is tilted by 10 to 15° to ensure varnish reaching the other end & metered varnish is trickled on the job. Job is made horizontal after varnish trickling i.e. while curing for uniform distribution of varnish. Pneumatic job tilting & pipe positioning arrangement is provided to ensure the place of varnish trickling on the job. 3. Varnish Feeding System : arnish is fed by peristaltic tube pumps driven by D.C. motors with variable speed control to control varnish quantity according to the models. Varnish quantity is varied & controlled by setting pump speed and trickle time. 4. Heating System : Jobs are heated by passing pre determined current for pre determined time through job windings. The current passing through the jobs is controlled by step-less variable voltage D.C. power source. Pre heating, Trickle and curing temperatures are controlled with non Contact-Us thermo sensor. 5. Centralized control panel : PLC Control with easy setting and control of process parameters such as preheating, trickling and curing time and temperature, varnish Quantity, etc. 6. Fumes Extraction System : One exhaust fan with ducting is provided on the top of the machine for varnish fumes extraction.
