Yaw gearbox is a new development from Kavitsu team. Kavitsu has been a pioneer in planetary gear technology and this latest offering marks a milestone for the Indian wind industry. In a wind turbine, yaw gearbox is generally used to rotate the nacelle (a housing which incorporates all the components in the wind turbine) against the force of the wind.   The Yaw gearbox is designed using planetary gear technology. Generally, depending on the required ratio, it can be a 4 stage or a 5 stage planetary drive with a pinion gear, which can be an integral part of the output shaft or it can be inserted into the output shaft. Kavitsu design team is continuously striving hard to reduce the weight and size of the yaw gearbox so that the customer can benefit from weight reduction and maximized efficiency.

Slew drive is an advanced version of the conventional worm and worm wheel technology. This assembly incorporates a worm shaft along with a slew ring bearing which give almost friction less working. Such types of slew drive are perfect for applications that require both load holding and rotational torque from the same gear box. The drives come with an hourglass worm technology, which increase the efficiency of the drives. The difference between normal and hourglass technology is that, in a conventional worm gearing system, only one tooth of the gear is in contact with the worm shaft, whereas in our systems, it can go up to 6 gears in contact. Gearboxes come in several configurations, each appropriate for somewhat different industrial uses. A gearbox comprising a planetary gear system, which is a particular kind of epicyclical gearing system, has several advantages over the other gear trains as a result of its exceptional solar system like arrangement. In a planetary gearbox, planetary gears which, subsequently, rotate around the sun gear are encompassed by a ring gear. Straightforward arrangements include only one of each gear component, compound planetary gears use stepped or meshed planet gears to enhance flexibility and torque to weight ratios. Planetary gearboxes have several advantages over conventional industrial gearboxes. Not only are they exceptionally streamlined, the arrangement permits load distribution over the gears. This distribution allows for a heightened firmness and greater torque capacities, which is critical in many industrial uses. When it comes to sugar crystallizer drives, more and more people are going towards Planetary drives as their preferred choice over the conventional Worm and worm wheel drives. KAVITSU combined bearings are suitable for forklifts and are designed as per the technical requirements of the fork lift and mast manufacturers. Similarly these are also suitable for linear motion in other equipments. The design incorporated in KAVITSU combined bearings gives the best resolution of the external load into its components. The complete sharing of the radial and axial load is allowed with design of the bearing. It is a combination of main bearing and axial bearing which takes the radial and axial load well in proportion. With this, the linear motion is smooth and there is no sliding friction. This leads to low wear and tear of supports / channels and saves power as well. Vibration level is reduced, which in turn decreases the noise level. This system allows the extended life for bearing and the profile, as it minimizes the specific pressure value between bearing and the beam. Assembly of bearing is very simple. A plate or a shaft can be directly welded on soft axle of bearing and the welded bearing can be inserted in the beam which is then ready for use. All rolling components are manufactured from alloy steel with proper heat treatment keeping hardness as per standard bearings (60 HRC). The bearing is a combination of inner race, outer race, centre pin, welding bolt and radial ring. The bearing is filled with lifelong lubricating grease and has a rubber sealing to avoid leakage and to protect it from dust and other foreign particle. Special greasing arrangement is done for applications where environmental conditions are extreme. The bearings are manufactured in LIGHT series and HEAVY series.
