On Day 9 we will reach Tsokar/Tsomoriri. This place is famous for its finest high altitude lakes. The Tso-Kar or ‘White Lake’ is one of the three high altitude salt water lakes in Ladakh.Tso-kar Lake is at a distance of around 50 kms from the Tso-moriri Lake popular with bird watchers. The area surrounding Tso-kar lake is rich with wildlife and birds. The lake gives a wonderful scenic and amazing view surrounded by hills and mountains on all sides. Tso-Kar inhabited by the Khampas, a nomadic group.The views at Tso Kar is simply breathtaking during the day as well as night with its shining mountains in moonlight. The Lake possess mesmerizing beauty which you’ll remember all your life. You’ll enjoy the night stay in camps.

On Day 10 Trans Himalaya Expedition we will move to Tandi. Tandi is located at the confluence of Bhaga and Chandra rivers in the Pattan valley. It is a perfect spot to admire the picturesque surroundings of the valley. You’ll enjoy the night stay at Tethys camp.

On day 5 of trans himalaya expedition, we will move to srinagar’s largest city and the summer capital of the indian state of jammu & kashmir which lies in the kashmir valley. This valley is surrounded by the beautiful himalayas on all sides. It is located on both sides of the jhelum river, and is famous for its lakes and swamps in and around the city. There are a number of lakes in the city the nigeen, the anchar, khushal sar, gil sar, and hokersar. The city is known for its natural environment, waterfronts & houseboats. It is also known for traditional kashmiri handicrafts and dried fruits. Srinagar has many famous mughal gardens. Srinagar is also known for holy places like hazratbal shrine, jama masjid, shankaracharya temple, hari parbat, gurudwara chatti patshahi and many more. The most notable of the lakes in the city is the serene dal lake, also known as the “jewel in the crown of kashmir”. Bright array of stationary houseboats and shikara add the attraction to the lake. You’ll enjoy the night stay in a beautiful house boat.

On Day 5 we will move to Spiti Valley – scenic paradise of the stunning hills. This place is a popular destination for nature buffs, photographers, and adventure enthusiasts. This place is well known for its mystical topography, monasteries, trekking routes, semi-frozen rivers and lakes. Night stay will be on Tethys camp.

On Day 12 Trans Himalaya Expedition we will move to Shichling a small village located in Spiti Tehsil of Lahul and Spiti district. This is a point where pin river and Spiti river meet. You can see snow-covered mountains all around and Dhankar gompa on cliffs. You’ll enjoy the night stay at Tethys camp and enjoy their hospitality.

Today, we will take a breather and give some time to cool off your mean machines. We will explore Sangla village and hike to Kamru fort, if time and weather allow. Snow Drive To Chitkul Blue sky, clouds hanging overs the snowy towering peaks of Kinnaur-Garhwal Himalayan ranges, and surreal excitement of discovering the last village on Indo-Tibetan border – driving on snow covered Sangla-Chitkul road in winters leaves one startled and pleasantly surprised. On day 4, after exploring Sangla and surrounding places, we’ll head towards the last frontier village, Chitkul. After driving for about 20kms, we’ll get to see the first glimpses of Chitkul village. The whole Baspa valley usually receives heavy snowfall during the winter season. The snow clearing operation is carried out by local administration and ITBP personnel of Mastrang camp. During long continuous days of snowfall, it takes a few days to clear snow from the road and to resume road connectivity. The drive to Chitkul may not be doable under such circumstances. Chitkul greets one with soft sounds of gurgling water and Buddhist flags fluttering in the air. The shops, hotels and home stays get closed there during the harsh winter season. Some places worth visiting in Chitkul are Mathi temple, Chitkul fort, bridge over Baspa River and Nagasti ITBP camp.

On Day 13 we will move to Sangla. This place is one of the most scenic in Himalayas with breathtaking views, also called as mini Switzerland of India. A Scenic & Jaw-dropping view of Baspa River flowing across Lower Baspa Valley can be seen throughout the journey. There are many unexplored & off-beat passes in the valley. It is surrounded by some beautiful villages like Rakcham, Batseri and Chitkul Villages. The night stay will be in a hotel.

On Day 3 we will move to Sach pass that runs over the Pir Panjal Mountain range which is famous among adventure seekers to experience the thrill of riding a bike or driving a car through it. It is also a famous point for trekking from Dalhousie. The panoramic view of the natural landscape – the valleys and the mountain peaks, from the pass, is a breathtaking sight. Sach Pass is a perfect getaway for nature lovers, photographers and adventure seekers. The night stay will be on Tethys camp.

On the 3rd day the guests will move to Pabbar Valley which lies in the lap of nature below the breathtakingly beautiful Chanshal mountain range. This valley is a haven for offbeat travelers and adventure seekers. You’ll enjoy the night stay in Camps in the river side. On the 4th day Guest will travel back to their homes.

On 2nd day we will move to pabbar valley through the bank of river with beautiful views. The route for pabbar valley (rohru) branches off the national highway from theog, and heads towards the pabbar valley and beyond. Known after the name of its major river pabbar with numerous tributary streams pabbar valley is a paradise of travelers and well known for adventurous traveler activities. Hatkoti and rohru are the two main picturesque places on the bank of river pabbar, known for trout fishing. Hatkoti is also famous for a splendidly built temple of goddess durga with green fields all round. The valley is surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams and offers beautiful views. Guests will enjoy the night stay on tethys camp with good hospitality.

On Day 7 Trans Himalaya Expedition we will move to Nubra. Hailed as the high altitude desert of India, Nubra Valley, in the north east of Ladakh is on the top of the list of pictures places to visit. With the exceptional beauty of its ink blue skies, snow-clad mountains, lakes and poplar trees with breathtaking views and delightfully hospitable inhabitants the Nubra Valley is the most recently opened area to explore in Ladakh. Once a trading route to connect eastern Tibet with Turkistan via Karakoram Pass, Nubra invites you to experience an unforgettable trip. You can see sand dunes, monasteries, and a ruined old palace. The Shyok River and Nubra or Siachen River form a large valley to separate the Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. You can enjoy a ride on the back of the Bactrian Camels while admiring the beauty of snow-covered mountain peaks. The valley is covered with thick thorny shrubs. The huge village in the valley has thick plantations of poplar and willow. Several ancient Gompas and palaces which are famous traveler attractions surround the area. To the north of Nubra valley lies the very popular Siachen Glacier. You’ll enjoy the night stay on camps.

On Day 1 guests will travel from their location and reach Narkanda . The night stay will be at Tethys Resort in Narkanda with introductory session while enjoying bonfire, snacks, drinks, music, dance and dinner. Narkanda is a beautiful and serene hill town of the Himachal Pradesh state that has also been blessed with salubrious weather, all throughout the year. Below Narkanda, to the north is the Sutlej Valley and beyond it is the snowy massif.

Baga Sarahan altitude: 2900m Drive time: 5 hours Distance: Around 120 km Route: Narkanda-Duttnagar on National Highway 5 and Duttnagar to Bhaga Sarahan on a connecting road via Nirmand and Bagipul. Trip highlights: Old villages with shingle-roofed houses, Baga Sarahan village, meadows Today, we will drive into the very heart of the outer Siraj valley of Kullu. Drive is easy and beautiful until Duttnagar – a small town located on the left bank of Satluj river on NH5 near Rampur Bushahr. A single lane road connects Duttnagar to Baga Sarahan. Nirmand – a village hailed as one of the largest in Himachal Pradesh — is famed for lord Parshuram and goddess Ambika temple built in ancient times. Nirmand will be our pitstop for lunch. Nirmand to Bagipul road is well-tarred and the drive will be easy, though sometimes it becomes hard to negotiate curves and give way to the heavy vehicles coming from the other side due to the narrow width of the road. Driving on Bagipul-Baga Sarahan road will be the first test of your driving skills. The road is tarred and the incline is quite steep on some stretches.

On Day 7 we will move to Manali a place with extraordinary scenic beauty, lush green forests, sprawling meadows carpeted with flowers, gushing blue streams, and a persistent fragrance of pines and freshness. This place is famous for museums, temples, quaint villages, adventures, trekking trails and many more. You’ll enjoy the night stay in a comfortable resort.

On Day 8 we will move to Leh. the beautiful crown of India in the Indus river valley in the state of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the land of high passes at an altitude of 3,500m situated in the picturesque state of Jammu and Kashmir. Mountains dominate the landscape around the Leh as it is . Surrounded by snow-capped mountains on all sides, the beauty of this place is unparalleled. Leh-Ladakh is the emergent favorite place for travelers from the entire world. Leh is the epitome of scenic beauty. Some of the famous points to visit in and aromd Leh are Pangong Lake, Pangong Lake, Diskit Gompa, Shey Monastery, Royal Leh Palace, Alchi monastery, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Namgyal Monastery, Hall of Fame, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, Khardungla Pass and many more. Being a small town, you can reach of most of its places by foot and experience the mystic land in the most uneven terrains of Leh Ladakh. On the 3rd day the guests will move to Kotgarh. Kotgarh is a real scenic valley covered with thick deodar trees. One can enjoy short walks through the forests & apple orchards. Terraced fields of apple trees make this place very beautiful. You’ll enjoy the night stay in Camps in the river side.

Khanag is a beautiful an offbeat village situated in Kullu district of HimachalPradesh. The distance of Khanag is around 60KM from Shimla. It is located in the border of the Kullu & Shimla Districts.

Kalpa altitude: 2900m Drive time: 8 hours Distance: Around 200 km Route: Kaza – Tabo – Nako – Khab (on NH 505) – Khab – Powari Jhulla (on NH5) – Kalpa (on Powari – Reckong Peo – Kalpa connecting road) The longest haul of the Winter Spiti Expedition. We will drive back on the same route, i.e., Kaza – Tabo – Nako – Khab route to reach Kalpa. Khab to Powari drive will be on NH 05. A connecting road from Powari Jhulla will take us to a beautiful village of Kalpa.

On Day 6 of our Trans Himalaya Expedition, we will move to Kargil, nestled in the Himalayas is a land of lost valleys, a saga lost in time, a place which should be thought beyond fences, with intimidating peaks of Himalaya, endless beautiful valleys. Kargil has long been only a transit point for people traveling to Leh and Srinagar. There are various places in and around Kargil that are still unexplored. Kargil is a town in the Kargil district of Ladakh region, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh. Kargil nestled in the Himalayas serves as the headquarters of Kargil district of Ladakh in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. In the past Kargil town has served as an important trade & transit center for the Central-Asian merchants. Currently, Kargil possesses an important place as a center of travel-related activities. It’s mostly a dry place and the land does not suitable for farming. Greenery can only be seen along the rivers. The sight of the valley and the river slithering through the town is really beautiful. The green patches exuberant with life in the midst of dry mountains is like an oasis. Visitors quench their thirst in this oasis during their trip.

On the 4th day we will move to Gulabgarh – junction point of Paddar area of Jammu and Kashmir. It has got it’s name after name of Maharaja Gulab Singh . Located on the bank of River Chenab and Bhoot Nallah River Gulabgarh is famous for eye catching views of snow covered hills, beautiful crop fields, Bhimgarh Fort, distinctively carved Hindu shrines – Chandi Mata shrine, Kali Mata temple and many more. There is “Buddhist Monastery” located at Gulabgarh. The beautiful city of gulab garh is well known for its incredible scenic landscapes of unblemished beauty with hills, glaciers and tributaries of the Chenab River (Chadrabhaga). The night stay will be again in camps.

Narkanda altitude: 2700m Drive time: 5-6 hours Distance: 190 km (from Chandigarh) Route: Shimla – Narkanda on National Highway 5 (previously known as Hindustan-Tibet road or Old HT road) Trip highlights: Green Valley, Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda, Hatu Peak In this first leg of the Winter Spiti Expedition, we drive through the pine forests of green valley and Kufri on National Highway 5. We will explore trails around Narkanda and relish the beautiful sunset and peaks of the Dhauladhar mountain range and the Greater Himalayas from the town/Hatu Peak. We will stay overnight at Tethys Resort at Narkanda with an introductory session while enjoying bonfire, snacks, drinks, music, dance and delicious dinner. Narkanda is a beautiful and serene hill town in the state of Himachal Pradesh that has been blessed with salubrious weather all year round. Below Narkanda, to the north lies the valley of snowy mountain massifs and deep gorges, the Kinnaur and Spiti Valley.

On 2nd day we will move to Dalhousie with mesmerising natural landscape, pine-clad valleys, flower bedecked meadows, fast flowing rivers, magnificent misty mountains and some of the most spectacular views in the world. You can see the Scottish and Victorian architecture and the ambience reminds you of the old British flavours. It is one of the most visited travelers place in Himachal Pradesh known for its mesmerizing natural beauty and its old world charm. Guests will enjoy the night stay in a hotel with good hospitality.

On Day 1 of Trans Himalaya Expedition guests will travel from their location and reach Chandigarh to begin our Trans Himalaya Expedition. The night stay will be in a hotel.

On Day 6 we will move to Chandertal lake (also known as ‘The moon lake’) located near Kunzum Pass – the best destination for trekkers and campers in Spiti. With clear water the colour of the lake keeps changing from blue, green to reddish and orange throughout the day. You will enjoy overnight camping at the vast green meadows, adjacent to Chandra Taal.
