Our casing cup tester is designed to be attached to the drill string and then lowered into the casing beneath the wellhead to pressure test the blowout preventer stack and wellhead. When the cup tester is lowered into the casing beneath the wellhead, pressure is applied to either a test pump or by hoisting the type cup after filling the hook-up with water. The latter method is fast and accurate. Astarn’s cup tester assemblies are rated to the API standard test pressure for casing sizes up to 10,000 psi. Special reinforcing can be offered on all cup sizes and casing weight ranges to hold up to 15,000 psi. Heavy Duty Packer cup is the least flexible but can also withstand higher pressure. The hardness is obtained by the difference in penetration depth of a specified dimension ball under two conditions of contact with the rubber. a) with a small initial force b) with a much large final force The differential penetration is taken at a specified time and converted to a hardness scale value. The IRHD Tester made a vertical plunger. The lower side of the plunger has an indenter. The lower shape of the indenter is ball type of specified dimension. The upper sides of the plunger have a good eclectic conductive tip. The weight of the plunger and fitting attached to it is the minor force. A big brass weight is the major force of the specified weight. A dial gauge is attached to the instrument for the measurement of the penetration depth of the indenter to the rubber. An electricity operated buzzer, for gently vibrating the apparatus to overcome the slight friction is mounted under the cover of the instrument. A measure of the indentation resistance of elastomeric or rubber materials based on the depth of penetration of a ball indentor. An initial contact force is applied to an indentor and the penetration is set to zero. The force is increased to a specified total load and the depth of penetration is measured. The IRHD value is related to the depth of indentor penetration. For highly elastic materials, IRHD and Shore A are comparable. Further movement of the platform causes the indenting load to act on the test specimen. Penetration of the indenting tip into the test specimen is determined with the help of a dial gauge fitted at the top of the pressure foot assembly.
