Symptoms of intoxication due to inspiration of ETHYL CHLORIDE are the preanaesthesia hangover syndrome, intoxication, unconsciousness, and central respiratory and circulatory paralysis. Antidotes in addition to the standard measures for intoxication are to assist pulmonary excretion of the toxin by forcing expiration and giving Xylocaine as a prophylactic measure (ventricular fibrillation).
