Since blending involves the flow of materials, blending mechanisms are affected by the same properties that affect flow. Flowability of bulk solids depends upon factors such as particle size and size distribution, particle shape, bulk density, all of which affect blending. The powder materials to be blended are charged in the mixing vessel, with a fill up volume ranging from 40 to 70 percent of the gross volume. Addition of liquids, if any, is through an optional spray piping system provided in the top portion of the blender. The ribbon agitator is operated at an appropriate speed depending on the size of the blender and the application. The geometry and rotation of the helical ribbon creates a counter-current axial movement and radial movement resulting in homogenous blending within 15 to 20 minutes, with about 90 to 95 percent homogeneity. After completion of blending, the material is discharged from one or more discharge valves located at the bottom of the vessel. The blender’s versatility to perform multiple functions such as heating, cooling, coating, and other processes besides mixing make it a popular blender.

The right hand side shaft is connected to a standard gearbox by means of chain and sprockets, which in turn is coupled to an electric motor. The whole drive assembly is covered with S.S. side panel. The inside portion of Octa body is mirror polished and the outside surface of Octa body; frame & guards are matt polished. The material to be mixed is charged in machine either manually from top or bin charging system or vacuum charging system and then the port is locked positively. Then blender is started to preset blending time. At the end of process, machine is stopped and the product is transferred to process containers by opening the butterfly value.

The Ribbon Blender can be used in either batch or continuous flow form to achieve a homogenous blend of a wide range of materials. It is a widely used style of blender and can be found in the pharmaceutical, food, animal feeds, confectionery, chemicals, fertilizer, plastics, cosmetics, pigments and insecticides industries. Digidale Ribbon Blenders are suitable for the distribution of liquids, fragrances and slightly pasty components in micro dosages onto carriers.Each unit consists of a horizontally-mounted, 'U'-shaped trough containing a double helix blender bar and a longitudinal shaft of twin-bladed construction. Material is introduced and mixed by means of an agitator. The resultant mixing is gentle but with good shear and impaction.In double helical design The outer ribbon displaces the material from the ends to the center while the inner ribbon moves the material from the center to the ends. This counter-current action results in homogenous blending.As the agitator rotates, the material is tumbled and carried radially around the inside of the blender.The pitch of the outer ribbon moves the material toward the discharge opening.The inner ribbon which has an opposing pitch moves the material away from the discharge opening
