The Ribbon Blender can be used in either batch or continuous flow form to achieve a homogenous blend of a wide range of materials. It is a widely used style of blender and can be found in the pharmaceutical, food, animal feeds, confectionery, chemicals, fertilizer, plastics, cosmetics, pigments and insecticides industries. Digidale Ribbon Blenders are suitable for the distribution of liquids, fragrances and slightly pasty components in micro dosages onto carriers.Each unit consists of a horizontally-mounted, 'U'-shaped trough containing a double helix blender bar and a longitudinal shaft of twin-bladed construction. Material is introduced and mixed by means of an agitator. The resultant mixing is gentle but with good shear and impaction.In double helical design The outer ribbon displaces the material from the ends to the center while the inner ribbon moves the material from the center to the ends. This counter-current action results in homogenous blending.As the agitator rotates, the material is tumbled and carried radially around the inside of the blender.The pitch of the outer ribbon moves the material toward the discharge opening.The inner ribbon which has an opposing pitch moves the material away from the discharge opening

Octagonal Blender, due to its octagonal shape is designed to process larger volume of material. It occupies less space compared to other similar blenders like 'V' and Double Cone. Power consumption is also less. The blending takes place at low speed during operation. It is well balanced even in higher capacities. It is very useful for pharmaceutical industries wherein gentle blending of dry granules of powder is to be done. It is a slow speed blender and has removable type baffles mounted on a rectangular shell. The important feature of the machine is easy to wash in place. Octagonal blender is supplied with a bin charging system or can be designed for vacuum charging. Media : Free flowing powders, granules Mode of Operation : Batch Mixing, Continuous Mixing Design and Operation Mixing Vessel – The ribbon blender consists of a U-shaped horizontal trough containing a double helical ribbon agitator rotating within. The clearance between the external periphery of the ribbon and the internal wall of the mixing vessel is generally in the range of 3 mm. The clearance may be higher depending on the properties of the materials being blended. Mixer Drive System - The ribbon blender is powered by a drive system comprising of a motor, gearbox, couplings and/or chain-chain wheel. Mixer Seal - The blender shaft is provided with an appropriate sealingarrangement in the area where it exits the mixing vessel. Material Charging and Discharging - Material is loaded in the blender through the charging nozzles provided on the top lid. Discharge of material is generally through a centrally located bottom  discharge valve. The blender may be provided with more than one valve, depending on the operational requirement. Mixer Assembly - The blender assembly comprising of the mixing vessel and the drive system are mounted on a supporting structure, base frame. The height of the base frame is decided based on the required charging height and the discharge height required for the blender operation.
