Webbing Abrasion Tester
A specimen clamp bar secures the specimen to the instrument while a specimen roller ensures an angle of 85° (±2°) is maintained between the specimen and hexagonal (hex) abrasion bar. Test specimen is weighted, and then subjected to a unidirectional reciprocal rubbing action as it travels back and forth over the hex abrasion bar. The test specimen passes over two of the six abrading edges of the 12" hex abrasion bar during each test. Depending on specimen width, up to three specimens can be evaluated simultaneously. Other features of the Taber Webbing Abrasion Tester include a slotted roller channel allowing a maximum stroke length adjustment of 330mm (13 inch); five preset speeds including 15, 30, 37, 45, and 60 cycles per minute; hinged, transparent safety cover; and a standard weight set of 2, 4 & 5.2 lbs. (an optional weight set of 3 & 5 lbs. is also available).The Webbing Abrasion Tester has the capacity to test materials with a breaking strength over 13,500 N per ASTM D6770, MIL-W-23223B, US Department of Transportation FMCSA Part 571.209 and other internationally recognized test standards. The Benz Mooney Viscometer (MV 2100) measures and records the viscosity of natural and synthetic rubber and plastic elastomers, including rubber in the raw or compounded state. It is also used to determine the curing characteristics of compounded rubber.More than a simple viscometer, the Benz MV 2100 is a computer data acquisition system, with digital P.I.D. temperature controls, realtime display of torque vs. time, data storage for statistical evaluation, and data manipulation. General DescriptionIt runs on Windows 95, NT, 98, 2000, ME and XP.The MV 2100 accepts a sample of the elastomer, usually 11 grams, in a melt chamber and heats it to 212 ºF (100 ºC). Pre-heating is timed to maintain consistency of initial viscosity readings. The viscometer's serrated shearing disk, rotating at 2 rpm and developing torque on the sample up to 200 inch pounds (200dN M), causing the sample to flow. The necessary amount of torque is measured and is read on an x-y graph on the personal computer monitor.Measurements are recorded on the PC, using Benz' proprietary Benzwin 2000 software, which is included with the MV 2100.When the sample's viscosity falls to a level reading, the engineer or quality control operator knows both the torque and the time required to reach that minimum viscosity. Among other things, the level indicates if the compound has been properly mixed, with ingredients in their proper proportions.The Benz MV 2100 also performs scorch tests in which, at 320 ºF (160 ºC), the liquid sample cures. The MV 2100 measures and records the amount of time a sample will last in a mold before it is scorched and its elastomeric properties are lost.The Benz MV 2100 is also used to record stress relaxation, measuring the amount of stress energy (resilience) remains in a sample after the spinning rotor is stopped. Designed and built to cover multiple International Testing Standards the Ray-Ran Advanced HDT/Vicat Apparatus utilises microprocessor technology to accurately determine the deflection and softening point characteristics of all thermo plastic test specimens.The HDT/Vicat apparatus allows for multiple simultaneous testing of samples depending on the amount of test stations available, either 2 or 4. The simple manually operated raise and lower function of the test stations ensure easy access to the test sample supports for sample loading and retrieval before and after each test.Each test station is fitted with a PT100 platinum resistance thermometer which accurately records the temperature next to the sample under test to 0.1°C and an electronic displacement transducer which measures the sample displacement to 0.01mm as standard or to 0.001mm as an option. The on board microprocessor ensures test result accuracy and repeatability and the built in liquid crystal display (LCD) provides simple on screen instructions reducing user error. Test parameters are easily selected using the onboard membrane keypad. A simple data selection process and yes/no prompts make the operating procedure very simple to undertake. The microprocessor’s temperature control function ensures the ramping rates of either 50°C/h or 120°C/h are kept within the specified test standard requirements as well as performing non standard ramp rates to customers own specific needs. Test temperatures of 300°C are easily achieved and to ensure optimum safety at higher temperatures the Nitrogen Blanket option is recommended.The methods of testing available on the apparatus areHDT - Heat deflection / distortion testA standard sized test specimen is subjected to a bending stress, whilst the temperature is raised at a uniform rate. The temperature at which the specified deflection occurs is measured and recorded. Testing is carried out in accordance with the ISO 75 (parts 1, 2 and 3) and ASTM D648 Test Standards.For this test a required fibre stress of 0.45, 1.8, or 8.00 MPa is easily selected. Custom fibre stresses can also be managed by the microprocessor if required. The unique binary weight system is used to apply the required fibre stress to the test sample and is automatically calculated by the microprocessor based on the sample size and span supports. Temperature ramp rates, sample size, span and deflection values are also easily entered into the testing parameters of each station. The temperature at which the sample was penetrated is recorded as the Vicat Softening Temperature (VST). Testing is carried out in accordance with the ISO 306 and ASTM D1525 Test Standards.For this test penetration loads are easily selected via the microprocessor for use with the single loading weights of 10 N and 50N. The supplied cylindrical indentor test nib with 1mm² surface area is attached to the load displacement rod for sample testing in accordance with relevant testing standard.The apparatus is supplied as standard with an integrated solenoid operated cooling system which is automatically activated after each test. It can be connected to either a standard water supply or to the optional chiller unit for improved heat reduction. The integrated cooling coil ensures rapid heat loss back to start temperature conditions within a short time period increasing production.The self calibration feature of the apparatus ensures that the test results remain accurate. Unique calibration plugs are supplied with each machine which simply plug into the PRT socket for you to carry out the calibration procedure. Designed and manufactured by Ray-Ran the Unrestrained Linear Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus or more commonly referred to as the liquid immersion method is used to determine the thermal shrinkage of plastic film & sheeting.As a result of manufacturing processes, internal stresses may be locked into a film or sheet which can be released by heating which causes shrinkage of the material. The amount of shrinkage which takes place is dependent on the temperature during the test. The results are plotted on a graph showing percentage shrinkage against temperature.Manufactured to a high standard the apparatus is supplied with electronic digital temperature control, temperature bath and all tooling accessories.The integrated temperature bath fitted with digital temperature controller, heater and a PT100 platinum resistance thermometer accurately maintains the test temperature to within± 0.5 °C. To ensure temperature stability within the bath a stirrer motor system is fitted and the built in electronic timer monitors the duration of the test.The apparatus comes as standard with stainless steel specimen holders which hold the film samples of 100mm x 100mm square. Torsional Stiffness Apparatus
The Torsional Stiffness Apparatus incorporates a torsion head and wire that translate a twisting motion to a 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" long specimen. Mounted to a rigid base and support post, the torsion head includes a dial protractor graduated from 0 to 360°. Made of 0.010 inch diameter tempered stainless steel wire, the torsion wire passes through the center of the torsion head in a loosely fitting sleeve gripped by a friction bearing. A fixed index pointer indicates the degrees of twist introduced to the torsion wire.Specimens are secured to the Torsional Stiffness Apparatus by two clamps. The upper specimen clamp is fastened to the lower end of the torsion wire and is able to rotate as the torsion wire is twisted. The lower specimen clamp holds the specimen in place which allows the twisting action to occur. To accommodate the twisting action, the lower specimen clamp can slide up or down guide posts mounted to the base.To operate the Torsional Stiffness Apparatus, the torsion head is rotated in a plane normal to the torsion wire. As the torsion head rotates, the torsion wire twists the test specimen. Mounted to the top of the test specimen upper clamp assembly is an indicator that measures the twist applied to the specimen until the specimen has been twisted 90°.An optional Finger Control Knob provides an ergonomic design that allows for two-hand operation of instrument, permitting a smooth twisting action of the specimen.

PrincipleAdherent Vs. SuspensionThe interchangeability feature of the matrix vessel and impeller within the reactor vessel allows the reactor to switch its mode from adherent culture to suspension culture.For suspension culture, the suspended cells in the culture medium are stirred using an impeller. On the other hand, adherent cells are cultured by attaching to carriers, BIO Noc™II, which are contained in the matrix vessel. The adherent cells are then alternately exposed to aeration and nutrition as the culture medium moves in and out of the matrix vessel via air pressure. The matrix vessel is cylindrical in shape and perforated halfway. The perforated half is used for medium submersion, while the non-perforated half is used during seeding. The nutrient medium remains at the bottom of the reactor vessel and is kept homogeneous by a built-in magnetic stirrer. Aeration occurs through headspace overlay and through the dissolved oxygen in the nutrient medium.
