Kelath Group prospered to the current status after years of persistent effort under the direction of KP Yusuf. Started as timber business at Shornur (Palakkad), the industrial network of the Group went and branched out to encompass iron, steel and other metal goods’s trading and manufacturing towards the early seventies.
With mounting business activities demanding the shift of trade to an easily accessible and widely networked commercial hotspot, the Group was founded as a firm in 1981 as ‘Thrissur steel agencies’ initially at West Fort. Later on ‘Kelath Metals’ established at Puzhakkal Padam evolved as the company’s business hub.
A company that gives equal importance to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development as much as exploring new horizons of business expansion, Kelath metal is instrumental in spearheading many developmental activities in its milieu.
Reiterating the saga of pioneering major business activities in Kerala, including being the first to import scrap from foreign countries, the company has metamorphosised into one of the chief traders within iron and steel industry. Diversifying business activities from trading to manufacturing and later to used-machinery retailing, Kelath has shined in all its undertakings. Furthermore, Kelath has also made its presence felt in retail sector with a commercial complex at the heart of Thrissur town and many more major projects including the eco-friendly Kelath Green Village along the pipe line. Kelath is also credited with the development of the 100 ton weigh bridge at Puzhakkal Padam, Thrissur.
