Sodium Bentonite (high swelling-high gel) are strongly hydroscopic exhibiting a great affinity for water. Non-swelling Bentonite (sub-Bentonite meta-Bentonite) are calcium Bentonite. Calcium Bentonite is more common than sodium Bentonite because calcium is higher in the replacement series.
