As shown in the figure brae motor consists of the following AC induction motor (Foot/Flange) Electromagnetic DC fail safe brake type USB or UMB Cooling fan after the brake for better heat dissipation and cooling of motor & brake as well Rectifier unit either can be provided near to motor terminal (for AC switching) or given separately to mount them in the control panel (for DC switching) Manual release is an optional feature and will be provided only with our UMB series brakes Switching There are three different methods of switching : Separate DC supply from control panel to the brake coil, {figure 1) AC Switching Brake coil connections are shown at AC side AC switching is recommended when braking time is not critical. DC Switching Switching is carried out on DC side. Once braking of the motor takes place intermittently, DC switching must be carried out. A Resistor and Capicitor network must be connected across the brake coil and parallel to it. Range : Standard 3 Phase Induction Motors with rating 0.12 HP to 10 HR are available from frame size 63 to 160 with standard speed and various construction. Standards : Performance conforms to IS:325 and dimensions according to IS:1231 and IS:2223. Ratings : Motors are rated for continues duty type S1 at an ambient of 40° C and site altitudes of up to 1000 M above mean sea level. Voltage and Frequency :Motors designed are for rated voltage of 415V +/-6%, 3 Phase, 50 Hz +/-3% supply. Motors with special designs of voltage / frequency can be offered on request. Paint : Standard Synthetic enamel paint is provided which is suitable for tropical conditions. However, special paint can be provided on request. Construction : Standard motors with single shaft extension are for horizontal foot mounting (B3 as per IS:1231) and vertical flange/face mounting (B5 & B14 as per IS:2223). In this condition a nominal "air gap" will be available and the rotor with the frictional surfaces remains sandwiched in between armature plate anf mounting plate.pelease of the brake takes place, when the power to the brake and motor is supplied at the same tme. Power to the brake coil produces strong magnetic filed and pulls the armature plate against the compression spring force towards the stator (brake coil) over the air gap and rotor becomes free to rotate. The attraction of the armature plate and returning to it's original position takes place instantaneously thus failsafe nature is ensured in case of power failure.
