Solar Panel
Goal Zero venture is a tiny solar charging unit made especially for keeping phones and tablets charged while on the go. It’s great for RVers, campers, trekkers and cyclists who need to charge personal devices on the road. The kit includes a small, branded Nomad 7 solar panel. It weighs only about nine ounces, so it’s one of the lightest solar panels money can buy. Its dimensions are only 4.5 x 3.2 x 1 inches. The smaller size makes it less efficient than it should be, but the design is still more capable compared to all-in-one solar panel designs. The size also makes it easier to carry in small backpacks, rucksacks, or large pockets. The charging tip for devices is already built-in. The advantage here is that charging requires no extra cables or wiring. This solar kit can charge a device from USB as quickly as in 4 hours. The solar battery can charge to full in 9 hours under full sunlight. The kit comes with certified cables that ensure that charging is efficient. The power pack has two high-speed 4.8A USB ports. The dual ports have a feature called integrated flood charge. It optimizes the charging time for all devices. The dual ports are capable of powering two devices at once without losing efficiency levels or overheating. No rubber plugs are needed for charging. The power pack is 30W and has the capacity of 7,800 mAh. This is sufficient power to charge any drained smartphone to full. The capacity is big enough to charge large tablets and top up laptops while on the go. In one go, the power pack can charge two to three smartphones or a single tablet. The device is waterproof when active. It can survive water spray, accidental drops in water, and getting soaked in the rain. It is also usable when still wet and doesn’t require drying. The solar panel is listed as IPX6 weatherproof and, for once, it truly is. It’s rugged enough to withstand most normal weather conditions such as snow, dust, dirt, and elevated temperature levels. The kit has a built-in cable that is tangle proof. It’s removable as well, so the level of convenience here is high. There is a microUSB port included as well, for three USB ports in total. There’s a belt clip in the back of the gadget, but it’s too small to actually clip on to anything. The charger also works with conventional electrical outlets, in case sunlight is too low. But the solar panel works much like a larger, ruggedized version. The battery pack and solar panel can be used interchangeably with devices. Devices can be plugged in directly to the solar panel for charging by the power of the sun without the charger bypass. It should be noted that while the capacity is quite large, the price is twice that of what you would get with a regular power bank. The increase in price is justified by the solar panel’s direct charging. Pros: Extremely ruggedized design Truly weatherproof Works even when wet Lightweight and portable Dual charging included Adequate capacity to charge two smartphones to full Cons: Expensive Suited only for small gadge
