Cottonseed is the next most commonly produced oilseed in the world. Cottonseeds are actually a by-product of the cotton plant, which is primarily grown for its fibre. Although cotton is been grown for its fibre for more than thousand years, the use of cottonseed as an oil seed on a commercial scale has increased recently to a great extent. The oil bearing kernel is surrounded by hard outer hull and in the processing the oil is extracted from the cottonseed. The cottonseed oil today is very largely used in the households as it is cheaper then groundnut oil in day to day life.
