In the process industry double window sight glass are used as an accessory in the pipeline or inlet or outlet of equipments to view the process fluid flow. Traditional double window sight glasses have the glass fitted between two flanges. Due to the inherent principle of tightening of flanges (opposite bolts are tightened one after the other), the glass by default remains stressed by unbalanced tightening torque from the fitting stage itself. This results into breakage during fitting or reduced life due to thermal expansion on an already stressed glass. Also in the traditional way of holding the glass, both the soft gaskets on both sides of the glass remains exposed to atmosphere resulting into the process fluid leaking out to atmosphere on the instant of the inside gasket failure.
