A sight glass consists of one glass pipe section, one metal frame, a pair of PTFE bushes and washers and an acrylic cover. Borosilicate pipe section is highly heat resistant, has excellent chemical resistance and has low thermal expansion. Metal frame is composed of two flanges which are welded with studs so that the stresses and vibrations of the pipeline do not transfer to the glass pipe section. Its check nut keeps the glass pipe section in compression and provides ease in replacement. PTFE bushes on both sides of glass pipe section ensures that liquid in the pipeline does not come in contact with metal frame. PTFE washers are used as gaskets while fitting the sight glass in the pipeline. Acrylic cover covers the glass pipe section and protects it from outer damages.

In the process industry double window sight glass are used as an accessory in the pipeline or inlet or outlet of equipments to view the process fluid flow. Traditional double window sight glasses have the glass fitted between two flanges. Due to the inherent principle of tightening of flanges (opposite bolts are tightened one after the other), the glass by default remains stressed by unbalanced tightening torque from the fitting stage itself. This results into breakage during fitting or reduced life due to thermal expansion on an already stressed glass. Also in the traditional way of holding the glass, both the soft gaskets on both sides of the glass remains exposed to atmosphere resulting into the process fluid leaking out to atmosphere on the instant of the inside gasket failure. The capnut housing provided in the indoanushka make multiview for housing the glass enables a leak proof tightened housing without unevenly stressing the glass as the tightening is obtained by threading on the cap onto the nut and therefore the glass gets uniformly and gradually tightened resulting into negligible or no pre-stresses.
in this kind of a capnut housing arrangement, the inside gasket for the glass soft seating has no scope of getting exposed to atmosphere. In fact it results into the washer being placed inside a mould. Therefore even in situations of the gasket disintegrating it casts itself inside the housing thereby it results into a lifelong leak free situation.
