The active ingredients that are present in the oil are monoterpenes and other derivatives. It was also found that essential oil; thymol and carvacrol, have antimicrobial activity against fungi (some aflatoxins producers), viruses, helmiths, gram positive bacteria (including botulinum) and gram negative bacteria.
